Matthew Freniere

Head of Operational Performance

Matthew is an experienced critical facilities manager, albeit with most of his experience in a facility that moves, submerges, and surfaces.  He joined Pure with over 20 years of experience operating the world’s most advanced nuclear reactors and submarines and leading some of the best engineering teams in the world.  Matt has also performed roles in requirements development, oversight and compliance, and maintenance planning and execution with a globally distributed and diverse workforce.

Throughout Matt has endeavoured to learn new and innovative ways to lead teams to peak performance and earning his MBA from the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business was transformational.  His passion for his people and ability to drive operational excellence was highlighted during his tour as Commanding Officer during which his boat was recognized as the U.S. Navy’s best performing ballistic missile submarine for 2020.

Matthew is orchestrating the operational excellence efforts of Pure’s globally diverse high-performing teams to safeguard against human error by leveraging simplicity in operation, and consistent-repeatable processes in data centres designed with defence in depth at their core.
